Ever since taxes were introduced, the government has used them as a tool to stimulate or discourage certain behaviour. In this article we discuss the limitations of Dutch tax incentives with regard to the financing of sustainable energy. Does taxation actually help?

The conclusion of this article is that the Dutch tax incentives for sustainable energy do indeed help, nothing more and nothing less. Tax is not a decisive factor in whether or not a investment is made. However, it can have a positive impact on the  ultimate return on an investment in sustainable energy.
